" She is a role model for all the women of the world "

Lord Alan Sugar

I’ve been told by many children, women and men that they find me inspiring. I always ask them what it is that inspires them and the answer is always the same – it’s my life story. Here are a few things you may not have known about me:

  • I am the child of immigrant parents who arrived in the UK in the 1960’s with just £10 to their name. We  were poor and grew up on a council estate. Whilst both my parents worked in low paid jobs we were reliant on welfare benefits to help us get through.
  • I grew up in a strict but liberal Muslim household, where it was expected that I would have an arranged marriage.
  • I attained an MA in Planning from Nottingham University in 1994 and my first job was as a Town Planner in East Sussex.
  • I went backpacking around the world for one year in 2002. This included travelling entirely alone in parts of the world rarely seen by most tourists including remote parts of Cambodia, Borneo and the Philippines.
  • I worked directly for Lord Alan Sugar (then ‘Sir Alan’) for 8 months after the filming of ‘The Apprentice’.
  • In 2006 I set up my own business www.miamoo.co.uk  which provides natural skincare products for babies. Our products are available at , Waitrose, Ocado, Boots.com and NCT.
